HBL PSL X Matches Postponed

UAE declines hosting; PCB prioritizes safety

By Sports Desk | May 10, 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially postponed the remaining matches of HBL Pakistan Super League Season 10 (PSL X) following the UAE’s refusal to host due to regional tensions and security concerns.

Why Were PSL X Matches Moved?

Escalating security threats, including a drone strike near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, forced the PCB to consider moving the final eight matches to a neutral venue. The UAE, a trusted host in the past, was the first choice.

UAE Declines to Host

Despite strong cricket ties, the Emirates Cricket Board declined the request due to rising diplomatic tension between India and Pakistan, leaving the PCB with no immediate backup option.

PCB's Official Statement

“The safety of our players, officials, and fans remains our utmost priority. Due to the evolving situation and the unavailability of an alternate venue, the remaining PSL 10 matches are postponed until further notice.”

Impact on Global Cricket

This postponement follows the suspension of the IPL, marking a rare simultaneous halt in two of the world’s premier cricket leagues due to geopolitical instability.

What’s Next?

The PCB is exploring alternative neutral venues, such as Qatar or Malaysia. Final decisions will depend on international travel advisories and the regional security outlook.
